What is international / global fleet mangement?

​​​If a company operates vehicle fleets in more than one country, eventually with vehicles in multiple countries spread all over the world, we define this as international or global fleet management.

​

Those companies face the typical challenges of fleet management as we describe them here: challenges of fleet management. 

 

​In addition, international or global fleet management is characterized by even additional complexity, resulting from two aspects:​​

  • ​​​Country specific differences: While the basics of fleet management are the same everywhere, nevertheless fleet management in each country is different so a certain extent. This is because of e.g. country specific legal regulations, different supplier landscapes, specific vehicle-needs due to different conditions of climate or terrain and last but not least a different cultural perception of cars as a benefit for employees.
     

  • International / global complexity: An international or global fleet manager additionally has to coordinate fleet management activities in the different countries and eventually harmonize them in order to ensure efficiency from a headquarter perspective.
